This morning was the REASON we moved to Hawai'i!
Duane and I enjoyed a frolicking morning with the Spinner's. All we had to do was float and slowly kick, and the 80 + dolphins kept circling back to us (for 2.5 hours!)
They've been VERY interested in locking eyes with humans lately. And about a month ago, they started "spiraling" people. Spiraling looks like having a dolphin lock eyes with you and then they swim in a tight circle around you. Breaking eye contact seems impossible at this close range - I'm talking inches from your face. After they spin you one way, they'll swim off, then come back and spin you the other way. Sometimes it's really fast and I burst out laughing trying to keep up. Always, it's the Elders who do the spiraling on people. I know there is something going on here around right brain/left brain and Balancing!
Today I sang them a Dolphin Honoring Song - "Naia, Naia, Naia... Love and Respect to you!" and they LOVED it! One dolphin swam with me, just a foot beneath me vocalizing - as if singing with me. She would then wiggle her body side to side, as if dancing to my song. I have a video of it which I will post soon!
Thank you Dolphin Family!!
